Polyester Foliage

The current California registration states that the registered foliage meets the minimum flame-resistance requirements for products identified in California Health and Safety Code Section 13115.
What should you ask your fire marshal? Ask which material-specific report is needed - ASTM E84 for polyester foliage or NFPA 701 Method 1 for polyethylene foliage - and, for a California project, whether the current state certificate is also requested. After purchase, contact us with your order number and product SKU for the applicable documents.
Documentation notes: Reports apply to manufactured foliage, not natural wood trunks. Items titled "IFR PVC" do not have a material-specific fire-test report.

What is inherent fire retardance?
Inherent fire retardance means the fire-retardant properties are built into the manufactured material rather than relying on a topical treatment applied to the finished tree. For documented polyester and polyethylene foliage, the additive is incorporated during manufacturing and will not wash away or leave an oily topical residue.
Which fire-test documentation applies to these trees?
The ASTM E84 report applies to polyester foliage, while the NFPA 701 Method 1 report applies to polyethylene foliage; both documented groups have current California State Fire Marshal Fabric Registration. Items titled "IFR PVC" do not have a material-specific fire-test report.
Are natural wood trunks included in the fire testing?
The available fire-test reports apply to the manufactured foliage material. When a tree includes a natural wood trunk, the trunk is not part of the tested foliage material.
Is there a minimum order quantity?
Most IFR trees are sold individually, so you can order one or more at a time. Pack and ordering requirements for smaller plants, branches or foliage pieces are listed on the individual product page.
Where can I use a fire-retardant artificial tree?
IFR artificial trees are ideal for offices, restaurants, hotels, retail spaces, event venues and other commercial interiors. Some products can also be used outdoors or in covered outdoor areas; check the individual description for UV and outdoor-use information.
What types of IFR trees do you sell?

Do IFR artificial trees have a topical chemical smell?
For documented polyester and polyethylene foliage, the fire-retardant additive is incorporated into the material rather than sprayed onto the finished tree. This avoids the oily coating and treatment residue associated with some topical applications.
Can I request the fire-test reports?
Yes. After purchase, contact us with your order number and product SKU for the applicable shared ASTM E84 or NFPA 701 report and current California State Fire Marshal certificate. Material-specific reports are not available for items with "IFR PVC" in the title.
