Inherently Fire-Retardant (IFR)

This is an inherently fire-retardant (IFR) item. In documented polyester and polyethylene styles, the fire-retardant properties are built into the foliage during manufacturing—not applied topically—so they will not wash away or leave oily residue.

Fire-test documentation: Reports cover foliage materials, not individual SKUs.

  • Title Includes "IFR PVC" (PVC Foliage): Manufacturer-designated IFR PVC foliage. No material-specific report is available, but we have sold these items nationwide for over a decade without a known fire-marshal issue. Ask your fire marshal: Is the IFR PVC designation acceptable, or is an on-site evaluation preferred?
  • SKU Prefix AR or AUR (Polyethylene Foliage): The NFPA 701, Method 1 report says the tested material passed.
  • SKU Prefix GR, PR, PUR or WR (Polyester Foliage): The ASTM E84-16 report shows a Flame Spread Index of 0 and Smoke Developed Index of 130, within the report's Class A limits.

California projects: The documented polyethylene and polyester groups above have a current California State Fire Marshal Fabric Registration under Section 13115. Ask your fire marshal: Will this registration satisfy the California or Title 19 documentation requirement for your project?

Non-Decorative Pot:

This item arrives in a non-decorative weighted "nursery" pot intended to be placed inside a larger decorative planter. While it can often be displayed as is, most customers nest the included pot in a larger container for correct scale and stability. Larger trees are naturally top-heavy and may not stand perfectly upright in the nursery pot alone; this is not a defect. They should be anchored inside a suitably sized planter using a stabilizing medium (e.g., soil, floral foam, sand, stones, or a combination).

We frequently get asked for the dimensions of these pots but honestly it doesn't matter, so long as you choose an appropriately sized planter for the size of the item. For example: a 6' tall tree usually has a 6-7" non-decorative pot, or a 7-9' tall tree will usually have at most a 10-12" non-decorative pot. In both instances the decorative planter size needed to visually look correct would be much larger than the non-decorative pots they come with.

In our industry, “silk” in a title or description does not mean real silk fabric. The term dates back 100+ years. Today’s “silk” flowers, plants, and trees are artificial and made with modern materials (e.g., polyester, PE, PVC, EVA) and processes to achieve realistic detail.

Colors:

We photograph in neutral lighting and describe colors carefully, but exact color matching can't be guaranteed. Screens and device settings display color differently, and natural shadows or highlights may appear in photos. Color names (e.g., "brown", "green") describe a family of shades rather than a single exact color tone.

How we measure:

  • Potted items: Unless otherwise noted, measured from the bottom of the pot to the farthest tip before final shaping.
  • Unpotted stems/sprays: Measured from the bottom of the stem to the farthest point.
  • Other items: Dimensions are maximum outside measurements (tallest or widest point).
  • Pre-arranged florals: Dimensions are more exact, as shape is fixed.
